Television Advertising

Television Advertising

Yes and No!    Television advertising can become very expensive very quickly especially when you consider its costs compared to the other advertising mediums you have access to. For the right business it can be effective but for most small businesses the bang for the buck is just not there when you can consider spending half the amount on things like online video advertisements, pay per click ads etc.

It has been successful for some of our clients but again, the ROI compared to other avenues of advertising was just never worth it because there are other, much more profitable ways to market.

The one area where it can be effective, again for a very specific product and service is local cable television advertising. This allows you to choose the time and programs that your commercials show up and are viewed and they have very specific demographics on the audience that watches the show. This means that you have a service or product that has very specific demographics, there is a chance television advertising at the local cable level could be very good for you.  Most businesses have a much broader market but if you fit that profile, we can help you determine if it will be a good fit and also negotiate with the cable network - they usually give very good deals for first timer.

However, In the world of streaming, recording shows and watching later (hence fast forwarding through commercials) we think that money can be much better spent on other advertising sources, mainly online.

They are cheaper to make, reach more people and cost less to advertise.  You can still follow the same pattern of television commercials – creating your own and using it online on sources like Facebook and YouTube. This provides you with the ability to specifically market to your target audience and specific demographics – within your area. Advertising can be set up so that the video advertisements can follow the user to other websites and also show them similar advertisements the following day when they login.

If you are determined to advertise on television, we can assist you with your marketing plan likely, but would need to discuss your goals and reasoning. If we feel it is doomed for failure we will tell you from the start and not take on the project.

Our clients hire us because they trust us – and we do ask for reasonableness when it comes to marketing choices – if something fails for everyone else, without convincing evidence it likely will for you too.
